Improving Account Security for Millions

PenFed needed a way to help members understand and improve account security. A high percentage of users had weak settings, putting them at risk for fraud.

My Role

I led strategy, research, and prototyping—pausing early to challenge an unrealistic 22-feature scope. I aligned teams, simplified the plan, and designed a modular layout with a dev-friendly gauge to ship fast under tight constraints.

Challenge

The original requirements document called for 22 features in 3 months. It was vague, overloaded, and not feasible.

I led alignment sessions with product, dev, and security teams to shrink the scope into a focused MVP that saved time and stress across teams.

Designing With Real Constraints

Dev couldn’t support animation, so I designed a lightweight gauge that looked good and worked. I also created modular components to future-proof the layout.
